Block Editor Overview
Block style editing has arrived in Herald! This is a significant new feature that will greatly improve the page creation and editing experience for Herald editors.
Block Pages
Block pages are created using the block editor. You can start with a blank canvas
or one of 8 pre-designed layouts
.
Page Layouts
Layouts are collections of pre-selected blocks that the Church Plant Media team has designed to help you quickly create great looking pages.
We've created 8 initial layouts with many more to come in the very near future.
Blank Canvas
A blank layout is just what it sounds like: you start with a blank editing screen and can select from over 20 block types
that range from text and image to columns, event listings and a sermon audio player. The choice is yours.
Creating a Block Page
Click the New Page
button just like before and you'll see a card with pre-designed layouts to choose from. You can also click the Blank Page
button to start with a fresh, clean canvas.
Block Toolbar
Every block has a toolbar menu
that you can access by hovering over the block. It will appear in the top right corner of the block.
Button | Description |
---|---|
... | Opens the properties panel for the selected block. |
Up/Down | Change the order of the block, up or down. Which options appear depends on whether there are blocks above or below the current block. |
Show/Hide | Show or hide the block. Use if you want to temporarily hide a block without deleting it. |
Delete | Delete the block. |
